Find the total distance of your journey. You can use Google Maps or a GPS device to measure road distance accurately. Make sure you measure the actual road distance, not a straight-line distance, for the most realistic result.
Your average speed is not the same as your maximum speed. A car with a 120 km/h speed limit will not actually maintain that speed due to traffic lights, turns, and traffic. A realistic average speed for highway driving is typically 80–100 km/h, while city driving averages 30–50 km/h.
Use the formula: Time = Distance ÷ Speed
Example: If you are driving 300 km at an average speed of 80 km/h — Time = 300 ÷ 80 = 3.75 hours = 3 hours 45 minutes.
